At Golden Peacock Design,
we craft homes that are as unique as the families who live in them.

A Home That Finally Felt Like Them, Taplow

Challenge:
After eight years, this developer-built family home no longer reflected the family living within it. Whilst it had become comfortable over time, the heart of the home still felt generic and lacked the warmth, personality and individuality that had naturally evolved as the family had grown.

The challenge wasn't to redesign the house for the sake of change. It was to create a home that better reflected who they were, celebrating the pieces they already loved whilst introducing greater cohesion, character and purpose throughout the spaces they used every day.

Overall Vision:
To create a home that felt as individual as the family living in it - rich in colour, warmth and personality - whilst designing spaces that supported the way they wanted to live, relax and spend time together.

Rather than following trends or starting from scratch, the vision was to uncover the potential already within the home, creating a layered, characterful interior that felt timeless, personal and entirely their own.

Project

Over eight years, this family had naturally evolved. Their style had become more confident, they had collected pieces they genuinely loved, yet their developer-built home had never quite caught up. While comfortable and practical, it no longer reflected the people living within it.

As with every Golden Peacock Design project, the starting point wasn't choosing colours or furniture - it was understanding the family. How did they want to spend time together? How did they want each room to feel? Which existing pieces brought them joy, and how could these become the foundation for a home that felt more personal and cohesive?

Those conversations shaped every design decision that followed. By celebrating what the family already loved and introducing carefully considered layers of colour, texture and character, the home became a true reflection of their personalities - supporting the way they wanted to live whilst feeling unmistakably theirs.

Kitchen, Dining & Living Space

challenge

Transform a functional developer kitchen into a welcoming heart of the home that reflected the family's personality and supported the way they wanted to live.

Vision

A joyful, characterful space that brought the family together, celebrated everyday life and felt uniquely theirs.

design approach

Building on the pieces the family already loved, introducing colour, warmth and cohesion to create a home that reflected their personalities rather than the developer's original vision.

Designed Around the Family, Not the Furniture

The transformation wasn't about replacing everything - it was about revealing the potential that was already there. A confident blue kitchen introduced warmth and individuality, while the much-loved House of Hackney Roman blind became the inspiration for the wider scheme. Existing pieces, including the teal sofa, found new purpose within a more cohesive design, whilst bespoke curtains and layered textiles brought softness, personality and flow. The result is a home that feels joyful, welcoming and unmistakably theirs—one that's just as suited to everyday family life as it is to entertaining.

Master Bedroom

challenge

Create a bedroom that offered two busy professionals a genuine place to switch off and recharge.

Vision

A calm, cocooning retreat that felt warm, elegant and deeply personal.

design approach

Building on the pieces the homeowners already loved, layering colour, texture and thoughtful detailing to create a space that supported rest and wellbeing.

A Space to Properly Unwind

Rather than starting again, the design celebrated what was already working. Rich sage green walls introduced warmth and depth, while soft linens, layered textures and subtle blush accents created a calm, restorative atmosphere. Existing artwork and furniture were given a new lease of life within a more cohesive scheme, resulting in a bedroom that feels balanced, personal and designed entirely around how the homeowners wanted to feel.

testimonial

A Home That Finally Felt Like Them, Taplow

"We worked with Antonia on our kitchen, dining and living space project and we are genuinely delighted with the result.

Right from the beginning, she filled me with confidence that she understood our brief and would work in true partnership with us to develop and deliver a scheme we would love. She encouraged us to be bolder with our choices, suggesting creative ideas we would never have considered on our own — and pushed us to think differently, which was exactly what we needed.

Once we had finalised the concept, Antonia worked closely with the suppliers to bring our vision to life. Her communication was excellent throughout and her attention to detail was meticulous. She was also incredibly patient — my husband and I had different views more than once, and she navigated that with great skill and good humour.
I really enjoyed the whole process. The end result speaks for itself and we could not be happier. Thank you so much, Antonia."    - Danielle
